Oenothera laciniata Hill
Family: OnagraceaeEnglish: Cutleaf evening primrose
Japanese: コマツヨイグサ (小待宵草) [Komatsuyo Igusa]
They look like little yellow buttercups sprouting from vines that creep over the sand. I was surprised to learn that this native of my homeland can be found as an invasive species on coasts the world over.
