The national TBS program,『ウチの子､ニッポンで元気ですか?』[How is our child in Japan?] followed me to Jomon Sugi and Kuromi Daké for a special hike in Yakushima.

Yakushima featured in the National Tourism Organization's 2018 Visit Japan video.
(And I get a cameo!)

Awesome music video dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the rediscovery of Jomon Sugi. The song was written and produced by Yakushima's talented Yoshiro Iwakiri and video contributed by several local guides. I did the translation that comes up in the subtitles.

Yakushima Heart followed work-away visitor Antoni on her journey to Wilson's Stump (and Jomon Sugi), and I was asked to guide.

Yakushima Heart video in which brain researcher and science communicator Ken Mogi explores the inspirations foreigners have found in Yakushima.

Most of Yakushima was devastated by 20th century logging, but the forest is regrowing and replanted forests must be periodically thinned, creating a surplus of "jisugi" wood.
